continued progress...

ok... so Jacoby has gotten stronger in her arms over the last week.  She can reach her ear and nose every few tries.  She is able to sit up and balance by herself for several minutes at a time.  We are going to persue some stem cell therapy over the next couple of weeks out of the country, so please pray for that... we continue to trust God as we seek His leading...

  2. Jacoby, I had a spinal cord injury in 2000 so I've been following your progress with interest. It's great that you're still seeing progress like this. Use it to keep motivated! I found it takes a long time to go from a 3 to a 4 in strength, so don't let that get you down. Absolutely the best of luck to you - keep working hard, I hope you have good PT's and continue to have great family and friend support.

  4. Great news on the continued recovery! I'm sure you guys have done extensive research on wherever you're headed and I wish you luck. I just wanted to throw this out there: there's been a lot of recent advancement in stem cell treatment for SCI, particular what Stem Cell Inc. and Neuralstem are doing, with some exciting clinical trials on the horizon. Right now Neuralstem is only accepting patients at the thoracic for the their phase 1 trial, but if this proves safe, they hope to open future phases for patients at the cervical level. This seems much more promising than the other treatments that are out there, and by receiving these other stem cell therapies you will most likely not be able to participate in future clinical trials. It's still extremely early in your recovery process. I know this is hard, I'm 7 months out (T-5 complete) and struggle to deal with this everyday, but I can't imagine how hard this is for you. I know you want to pursue every option you can, I just wanted to throw out some thoughts for whatever it's worth. I hope you have a safe trip.
