Goal #1...met!!!

So... Jacoby has been participating in rehab at home the last couple of weeks with a company called, "Rehab Without Walls".  Her therapists, Colin and Ron have been great!  Today, Jacoby reached her first goal and scratched her nose!  Well, she does have to lay on her side to do it, but we are going to count it!  She continues to gain strength in her arms and is able to spend ever increasing amounts of time sitting up working on balance.  We've been working on transfers using a slide board and techniques for her to aid those transfers.  We are still waiting on several pieces of equipment to be delivered, but she still has plenty to do.  We are excited to expand her therapy as she continues to gain strength and stamina.
Although, she has no new motory function, Jacoby has had some slight sensory return.  She can lightly feel touch in her fingertips and also in the some areas on the bottom of her feet!
We continue to be amazed and thankful for the outpouring of support by our community.  It seems like each day we hear of a new fundraiser in the works!  God continues to show His love and faithfulness through you all...

Ephesians 3:20-21Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

  4. My son uses a device called a jaeco wrex. He has a muscle disease and is in a wheelchair. Because of the disease he has a hard time lifting his arms. DOn't know if this is something you would be interested in for your daughter since I know your goal would be for her to do it without help but maybe something like this would be useful until she is able to get the strength back. My son also uses it so he can feed himself, and scratch his nose:). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about it. and YES being able to scratch your nose yourself is a BIG deal and until you can't do that yourself, you don't realize how much it means !!

    1. thanks for the info Donna! We are aware, but are going to wait a bit longer as she continues to gain strength each day in the biceps which are currently firing. I'm sure we'll use it in the end, if needed...

  7. We love hearing of any and all new senses or feelings. The entire Miles Family is an inspiration to so many. We are continuously praying for your full recovery Jacoby. We believe you will do amazing things in your life as you already are, everyday. 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Rest in Him Jacoby...
