In Gods hands...

Reminder:  Jacoby is NOT ready for visitors and no flowers at this time because they are not allowed in her room.

Keep the prayers coming...

Although Jacoby's physical needs are in Gods hands there are some things we can do to help.  In addition to our prayers, we can help to relieve the financial burden this is going to have on the Mile's family.

Here are the ways you can help:

Fundraiser #1 - Book Sales:
On the same day of the accident, Melanie Roach's new book "Lift:  Enjoying the Journey of Life" was released on Amazon.  Melanie has committed to give 100% of the book sale profits to aid in Jacoby's recovery and ongoing expenses.  You can purchase the book at Amazon.com.

Fundraiser #2 - Cash Donations:
Roach Gymnastics is accepting cash, check or visa donations on behalf of the Mile's family until a charity account can be set up in Jacoby's name.

Donate online at Roachgymnastics.com.  Please specify it is for the Team Jacoby Fund.

Drop off or send donations to:
Team Jacoby Fund c/o Roach Gymnastics and Cheer
1627 45th St. E., Bldg. D-103
Sumner, WA 98390

Donate by phone.  Call the gym at 253-826-5999.

Fundraiser #3 - Grocery/restaurant gift cards:
Roach Gymnastics is organizing and delivering daily meals to the family at home and the hosptial and could use grocery gift cards to help provide these meals.

Fundraiser #4 - Gymnastics clinics at Roach Gymnastics:
Roach Gymnastics will be holding gymnastics clinics for all levels on Monday 11/19, Tuesday 11/20 and Wednesday 11/21.  100% of the proceeds will go to the Team Jacoby Fund.  Options are 4pm-6pm for levels 3-5 and a 6pm-8pm for level 6-10.  The cost will be $25 per gymnast.  Please call Roach Gymnastics at 253-826-5999 to register.

Fundraiser #5 - Get Well Cards:
The gymnastics community, spearheaded by Sandy at Emerald City Gymnastics, is doing a massive fundraiser where gymnasts from accross the country are making get well cards for Jacoby and including a minimum of $20 in it.  Her goal is to raise $50,000 by Thanksgiving.

Send cards to:
Team Jacoby Fund
c/o ECGA
17735 NE 65th St. Suite 110
Redmond, WA 98052

Many more fundraisers are in the works.  We will have online donations directly to the donation account set up in Jacoby's name very soon.

Please contact Melanie Roach at melanieroach@comcast.net if you have any other fundraising ideas you'd like to share.

  7. Gretchen, our entire family (me & my husband & our 4 kids) spent some time together in prayer for Jacoby tonight! Of course for her complete & total healing... but also for YOU, for your mommy heart and for the 5 other kiddo's as this is probably very difficult on many levels for them also. My 2 oldest teens are willing to be put on a list of available childcare for your little ones, so that no, ONE person or persons will have to do it all. We will be donating food gift-cards and cash too. (its how my kids wanted to spend their tithe money). Bless you dear one!! And know that God WILL provide all you need. May you continue to sense His peace and presence every time you turn around, recognize Him and His comfort! Let us know who to contact about the childcare list, maybe Cheryl???

  8. Jacoby and family, I heard about your injury yesterday at my daughter's soccer game. I sustained the same dislocation at C6-C7 when I was 17 and was airlifted to Harborview from my gymnastics meet on Bainbridge Island. Back then there weren't diagnostic tools to let us know if the spinal cord was severed or not so we were told I was a quadriplegic. God had other plans. I am a mother of 3 and a physical therapist in downtown Puyallup. My family and I lived what you are living, know that we serve a mighty, miracle working God. He will provide all your needs and will comfort you through this time. His ways and plans are higher than ours and he knows the future. Rest in His peace, mercy and grace. I will be praying for you and would love to meet you when the time is right. Your sister in Chirst, Sue Beardemphl

  14. Jacoby and family. I don't know you but my daughter was a competitive gymnast, and all gymnasts become daughters. Get well and have a good recovery. You are surrounded with love and that will get you through.

  15. Jacoby, you have a brother and sister praying for you in Auburn. When my husband was 19, he was in a horrible accident at the beach where a wave threw him headfirst into the sand; he suffered a C-6 burst fracture as a result. His left side was paralyzed and he lost all feeling in his right. He laid there on the beach knowing that if he were to die right there, he was not going to be with Jesus. He put his faith in Christ for salvation right there on that beach waiting for paramedics to arrive and felt overwhelming peace wash over him.

The miracle of miracles: people around the world were praying for him and for his recovery. I was one of them, though I had not even met him yet. We watched as God answered the prayers for the impossible and, slowly but surely, he learned to walk again. Today, at 25, he loves to hike, fish, and is testing to become a firefighter! The only part of his injury that remains is that his left hand cannot fully extend.

I share this with you because I believe in a God who does the impossible and who is with you RIGHT NOW. He was with my husband and gave him peace for the duration of his stay in the hospital with neuropathic pain, for the long process of physical therapy, and for all that has come afterward. He has told me time and again: "I would not trade my broken neck for anything."

His favorite verse today is Philippians 4:6-7. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you today, Jacoby.
