Merry Christmas!

It was a close call, but Jacoby did get released from Children's on Christmas Eve!  Blood test results indicating high calcium levels in her blood that most likely would have slid her release date did not come in until we were already home.  We are keeping a close eye on her and will check her blood again in a couple days.
Thanks to Konner Ackerman and his family for a great care package full of Olympic and U. of Michigan memorabilia!
To be honest, our first full day at home was a ton of work.  The home remodel has been a life-saver.  I don't know how we would have done it without!  Thanks again to all those involved.
Today, we celebrated the birth of our Savior with family and friends with gifts, prayer, meals, and games.  Jacoby was definitely ready to get home with the family again.  We can easily tell the difference in her spirits and emotion!

  3. I think it's great that Jacoby has such great support ... but honestly it makes me very sad that not everyone with such a tragic injury gets the same sort of attention. Just because she has an Olympian pulling for her locally doesn't seem right that others who do not know such people don't have the same type of help.

    1. This isn't the right place for such a comment. Jacoby and her family have enough to worry about without you trying to make them feel guilty. This blog is to keep those who care about her informed of how she is doing, and for us to show support for them.

    2. Jacoby is very blessed to have the support of family and friends. This has NOTHING to do with having the support of an olympian. That makes no difference whatsoever. People want to support her because of what a great person she is. I am sorry if not everyone has the support that Jacoby has but that has nothing to do with her.

  7. Jacoby and family, I hope every day at home is becoming a bit easier. I know you must be thrilled to be there -- be patient with yourselves as you settle in!!

Gretchen or Jason mentioned on the blog a couple days ago that you were told Jacoby's ability to go home after just a month was very unusual -- I know that is true! My brother was at Harborview for three months following the accident that left him paralized - and his rehab and recovery continued on an out patient basis. I have 100% faith that she has great amounts of recovery still to be seen.

You all remain in our prayers.
